Macquarie University and QTAC have concluded a 5-year agreement to jointly develop an application for online skills verification software in the transport and logistics sector in Australia, utilising Blockchain technology. This system will provide a high degree of integrity in résumés, job applications and performance reviews — the ability to ‘fake’ results and certification will be removed through the process.

Professor Daryll Hull, Co-Director of the Centre for Workforce Futures, will work with QTAC and key industry stakeholders to design and test a system that will allow employees, contractors, employers, training providers and government agencies to share credentialing information in a secure and encrypted environment.

The initial BETA site will likely be located in Queensland, under joint oversight by Macquarie University, QTAC and a national transport and logistics company.

QTAC processes 70,000 student applications a year on behalf of Queensland universities and TAFE colleges. It is likely that the industry system will use the BLUECARD Skills Passport as the test platform, of which there are over 80,000 in circulation across Australia. This Agreement accordingly promises scale and reach once the system is rolled out. High engagement and high impact in a vital sector of the Australian economy.
