Procurement information for suppliers

Macquarie University places significant focus on the development of long-term strategic partnerships, and procurement is a key enabler for achieving this.

Become a supplier

Our suppliers do more than just provide products and services – they contribute to innovation, research and educational advancements that make a difference.

If you are interested in becoming a supplier, we encourage you to complete our Vendor Registration of Interest form. When opportunities arise and your organisation aligns with our needs, we’ll invite you to participate in our procurement process.

Requests for tenders, expressions of interest and quotes are advertised, managed and awarded through the Tenderlink portal. Register on Tenderlink to receive notifications about relevant procurement opportunities.

Macquarie University strives to ensure fair business opportunities. For feedback, contact chiefprocurementofficer@mq.edu.au.

Values

Macquarie University is committed to ensuring all business and procurement practices are fair, ethical and equitable. Upholding probity ensures fairness and transparency in procurement. This involves:

  • compliance with all applicable laws and policies
  • transparent processes with clear audit trails
  • identification and management of conflicts of interest
  • protection of confidential information
  • equal opportunities, ensuring no supplier will receive an unfair advantage or disadvantage.

We recognise the significant impact of corporate social responsibility and thus prioritise partnerships with suppliers that align with our ethical, environmental, and sustainability goals. We uphold and expect our suppliers and partners to uphold our values.

Sustainability is fundamental to our procurement practices. We prioritise suppliers committed to:

  • reducing greenhouse gas emissions
  • implementing responsible resource consumption
  • demonstrating sustainable business practices through certifications and policies.

See our sustainability objectives and commitments

We view innovation as a key driver of progress, helping us stay adaptive, efficient, and future-focused in service delivery. We actively seek suppliers who embrace:

  • new technologies
  • improved processes
  • creative solutions.

Through our procurement process, suppliers are encouraged to demonstrate:

  • how innovation is embedded in their service model from project inception through execution
  • strategies for developing and implementing innovation, including piloting, governance, and evaluation frameworks
  • collaborative approaches, such as partnerships with research institutions, investments in new technologies, and strategic alliances
  • leadership-driven innovation practices, performance measurement, and recognition of innovative efforts.

We welcome examples of previous technical, strategic, or operational innovations to illustrate a proven track record of delivering meaningful improvements.

Policies and guidelines

All procurement activities undertaken by the University must be conducted in an ethical, sustainable, and transparent manner in accordance with the Procurement Policy. Additionally, the University and our suppliers are required to adhere to the policies and guidelines outlined below.

Macquarie University expects all suppliers to adhere to the Supplier Code of Conduct, ensuring ethical, sustainable, and responsible business practices. Failure to comply may result in contract termination without penalty.

Unless superseded by a specific contract, suppliers agree to follow Macquarie University’s standard purchase order terms and conditions for all transactions.

Macquarie University is committed to advancing Indigenous participation through responsible procurement practices. We are currently taking a broader, sector-wide approach to Indigenous Procurement through the Australasian Universities Procurement Network (AUPN).

AUPN has established a sector-wide Indigenous Procurement Working Group, which was formed in response to the Universities Australia (UA) Indigenous Procurement Guidelines, which highlight the importance of universities' commitment to Indigenous advancement through business partnerships and procurement practices. We are working towards implementing the guidelines both within our individual universities and collectively across the sector.

Indigenous procurement is already delivering meaningful impact across the university sector, fostering equitable engagement and business growth. As this work expands, we encourage suppliers to remain informed, collaborate, and explore ways to integrate inclusive practices within their operations.

We take a proactive stance against modern slavery risks in supply chains. Through advanced supplier mapping, risk modelling frameworks, and spend analytics, we identify vulnerabilities and implement effective mitigation strategies.
