Health system in the spotlight

Experts from across the country meet at AIHI for Partnership Centre for Health System Sustainability workshop

More than 40 of the country’s top health systems and health economics researchers, policy makers and practitioners met today at the Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI), Macquarie University, for the NHMRC Partnership Centre for Health System Sustainability (PCHSS) workshop.

The workshop was hosted by PCHSS Coordinator Ms Jo Holt along with AIHI’s Professors Braithwaite, Westbrook and Coiera (pictured).

Focussed on building a more sustainable Australian health system in the face of a rapidly ageing population, stretched budgets, low-value care, waste and workforce pressures, the team were tasked with identifying real and practical interventions as well as setting the research agenda for the next 12 months.

  • Professor Anthony Scott – lead of the Health Economics Research Program, Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research at the University of Melbourne; joint coordinator, University of Melbourne Health Economics Group.

  • Professor Christine Bennett AO – Dean, School of Medicine, University of Notre Dame Australia
