Associate Professor Farah Magrabi

Associate Professor Farah Magrabi is the only Australian in 2020 to be welcomed as a Fellow into the prestigious American College of Medical Informatics (ACMI) and will be inducted during the AMIA 2020 Virtual Annual Symposium. ACMI is a college of elected Fellows from the U.S. and abroad who have made significant and sustained contributions to the field of medical informatics. It is the central U.S. body for a community of scholars and practitioners who are committed to advancing the informatics field.

Associate Professor Magrabi leads Patient Safety Informatics research at the Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI), Centre for Health Informatics and joins AIHI Directors, Professor Enrico Coiera (elected 1999) and Professor Johanna Westbrook (elected 2005) as Fellows of ACMI.

It’s a great honour to be elected as a Fellow into the prestigious ACMI and to be among the most highly respected medical informaticians internationally.

Associate Professor Magrabi has a background in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering with over 15 years’ experience in designing and evaluating digital health technologies for clinicians and consumers. Associate Professor Magrabi is currently investigating the clinical safety and effectiveness of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare. She is co-chair of the Australian AI Alliance’s working group on safety, quality and ethics and an Associate Editor of the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association.
