Health sciencesMacquarie’s health sciences researchers are experts in the fields of allied health, clinical audiology, chiropractic, environmental health, physiotherapy, public health, and speech and language pathology.

One of the centrepieces of Macquarie’s recent investment in public health is the Australian Hearing Hub, which brings together some of the country’s best researchers and service providers to advance research, education and innovation into hearing and language disorders.

In addition to the Australian Hearing Hub, Macquarie has outstanding physiotherapy, chiropractic and anatomy research facilities, which are considered to be the best university facilities in the region, and among the best in the world.

Our facilities

Our facilities include:

  • chiropractic and anatomy labs with rooms for radiology, orthopaedics, rehabilitation and
    case management
  • an environmental quality laboratory
  • new clinical and laboratory facilities in audiology and speech pathology located in the Australian Hearing Hub, enabling research using evoked potentials, audiometric processing, vestibular assessment, speech perception and auditory plasticity using advanced measurements techniques such as magnetoencephalography (MEG)
  • an OSL Laboratory, and
  • a purpose-built physiotherapy research laboratory supplemented by access to the extensive radiology imaging suite at Macquarie University Hospital
