New CACHE Members from Environmental Humanities

CACHE is delighted to welcome some new members who will be joining us from the MQ Environmental Humanities Research Group, co-lead by CACHE Executive Committee member A/Prof. Emily O’Gorman.  Environmental Humanities is an interdisciplinary field that serves as an umbrella for environmental subfields in the social sciences and humanities and promotes the productive cross-fertilisation of ideas between them.

Dr Ian Collinson is a lecturer in the Department of Media, Communications, Creative Arts, Language and Literature at Macquarie University. His research interests include the position of popular music in the capitalocene, ecomedia, and environmental criticism more generally. He has taught in media studies, cultural studies and environmental humanities, and is both a member of the International Association for the Study of Popular Music (ANZ & World) and the Association for Literature, Environment and Culture (Australia).

A/Prof. Donna Houston is an urban and cultural geographer. Her research focuses on environmental justice in climate-changing worlds; geographies of extinction, and urban planning in more-than-human cities.  A/Prof Houston is the Chair of the Discipline of Geography and Planning, Co-Director of the Faculty of Arts Environmental Humanities Research Group and a founding member of the Shadow Places Network.

Dr Jessica McLean does research on how humans, more-than-humans, environments and technologies interact to produce geographies of change. Her research focuses on digital technologies, water politics, climate action and activism. She is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences at Macquarie University where she teaches smart urbanism, Anthropocene politics, and environmental justice.

A/Prof. Fiona Miller is a human geographer who conducts research from a political ecology perspective on the social and equity dimensions of environmental change in the Asia Pacific, notably Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as Australia. She is an Associate Professor in the School of Social Sciences at Macquarie University. She specialises in social vulnerability, society-water relations and climate change adaptation.

A/Prof. Sandie Suchet-Pearson is an associate professor in Geography and Planning and ARC Future Fellow, Macquarie School of Social Sciences. Her research and teaching experiences are in the area of Indigenous rights and environmental management. Her current work focuses on Indigenous self-determination in the context of cultural tourism in North East Arnhem Land, northern Australia and caring-as-Country in western Sydney.

Dr Madeline Taylor is a Senior Lecturer at Macquarie University, Deputy Director of the Centre for Energy and Natural Resources Innovation and Transformation (CENRIT) at Macquarie University, Honorary Associate at the Sydney Environment Institute, and Climate Councillor for the Climate Council. Madeline specialises in issues at the intersection of energy and natural resources law, as well as property and commercial law. Her current research focuses on the role of law and policy in renewable energy development to promulgate sustainable and equitable co-location with sensitive land uses.
