Prof Alison Rodger gave a terrific seminar for MQ Photonics on "Revitalising old spectroscopies for new applications - Infrared spectroscopy for protein structure and fluorescence-detected linear dichroism for membrane systems". Alison's meticulous attention to the details of how her instrument works, what is being measured, and what the software calculates enables her to determine subtle changes in protein structures.
