Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly pervading our lives, with AI technologies being applied in industry, legal, and public administration sectors.

Healthcare is one of the sectors in which AI holds an immense potential, as well as causes significant legal and ethical challenges.

During this webinar, the panel consisting of health, law, and cyber security experts from Macquarie University will discuss legal and security issues that need to be taken into account when developing or using human rights-compliant AI applications in the health sector, such as: AI decision making and human rights; explainability of AI decisions; intellectual property; and security considerations related to AI.

The webinar panel members include:

  • Professor Enrico Coiera, Centre for Health Informatics, Australian Institute of Health Innovation (Chair)
  • Professor Niloufer Selvadurai, Macquarie Law School
  • Dr Rita Matulionyte, Macquarie Law School
  • Ms Carolyn Adams, Macquarie Law School
  • Dr Stephen McCombie, Department of Security Studies and Criminology

This webinar is organised by Macquarie Law School, the Data Society Research Stream and the Centre for Health Informatics - Australian Institute of Health Innovation at Macquarie University.
