Professor Westbrook delivers keynote address at the Healthy Ageing Summit, Hong Kong

From June 16 -18, 2017, Professor Johanna Westbrook attended the The Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES) in Hong Kong and delivered the keynote address.

The event was co-hosted by the HKSAR Government and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS), and co-organised by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP). The GIES is one of the celebration events for the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR.

The objectives of the Summit included:

  1. Showcasing local and foreign innovation products and ideas;
  2. Increasing awareness of the general public, and the demand for technological intervention related to the elderly;
  3. Engaging stakeholders to meet, to have dialogues and to be stimulated; and
  4. Initiating the momentum for a multi-stakeholder, multi-disciplinary platform for continuous collaboration.

Professor Westbrook gave a presentation titled “How information technology and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) can be used to assess the quality and outcomes of care for older Australians in aged care facilities and the community”, and was a panellist during the Plenary Session – Future healthcare infrastructures: From hospital to homecare.
