Professor Jeffrey Braithwaite appointed as adviser to WHO

Professor Jeffrey Braithwaite, Director of the Australian Institute of Health Innovation at Macquarie University, has been appointed as Temporary Adviser to Dr Ahmed Al-Mandhari, Regional Director, World Health Organisation (WHO), Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office.

Professor Braithwaite will attend the first meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee in Cairo, Egypt, in April, 2019. This prestigious appointment follows the three books on which Professor Braithwaite is Series Editor, looking at heath reform across the world, in 152 countries.

The WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office serves 21 countries in the region.

Professor Braithwaite said: “Dr Al-Mandhari wrote the excellent chapters on Oman in each of these volumes to date, examining various facets of health reform in Oman.”

This appointment provides valuable opportunities for Professor Braithwaite and Dr Al-Mandhari to further their collaboration to improve health services in the region.
