Consumers enhance diagnostic informatics

Consumers enhance diagnostic informatics

The NHMRC Partnership in Diagnostic Informatics released its first Consumer Reference Group report following the inaugural consumer workshop.

What are the challenges faced by consumers understanding pathology and medical imaging test results management?

In order to find out, the NHMRC Partnership in Diagnostic Informatics invited ten consumer representatives to join five researchers in discussion at the inaugural consumer workshop on 23 July 2018.

This innovative approach to enhancing the contribution of consumers towards understanding current challenges associated with test result management focussed on two main topics:

  1. Transitions of care - "I am aware of the next steps in my care” and
  2. Access - "Do I have the information I need to understand the decisions being made?"

The Consumer Reference Group Report outlines the consumer-driven topics discussed and the aims of the workshop.
