Advising Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office of WHO
Professor Jeffrey Braithwaite in Egypt
Professor Jeffrey Braithwaite, Founding Director of the Australian Institute of Health Innovation, participated as a member of the annual Technical Advisory Committee of the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office (EMRO) of the World Health Organisation in Cairo, Egypt from 16 to 17 April 2019. This is the peak advisory group for the region, advising Dr Ahmed Al-Mandhari, the Regional Director.
The EMRO covers 22 countries in one of the most diverse parts of the world, with many health, medical and health systems challenges.
Professor Braithwaite said “Dr Al-Mandhari is amongst the most able and impressive colleagues. He and his team in EMRO are working tirelessly and with great skill and application on global and regional health systems challenges in Africa and the Middle East."
It is a privilege to contribute advice and provide input into WHO policy and improvement measures in this most vibrant of WHO regions.
Professor Braithwaite has published widely in the area of health system reform including a three part book series.
