Professor Jeffrey Braithwaite appointed to Commission Board

The Minister for Health and Aged Care, The Hon Mark Butler MP has confirmed the appointment of Professor Jeffrey Braithwaite to the Board of the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care. Professor Braithwaite is Founding Director of the Australian Institute for Health Innovation.

In the media release, the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care said Professor Braithwaite was a leading health services and systems researcher with a strong international reputation and deep knowledge of innovation and system reform culture.

Professor Braithwaite is the recent recipient of $4.9m funding from the Medical Research Future Fund for a national project to improve care for children in three national paediatric priority areas – asthma, type 1 diabetes, and antibiotic overuse. He was also appointed to The Lancet Psychiatry Commission on Transforming Mental Health Implementation Research and co-authored the recently released report.

Professor Braithwaite has been invited to present to and advise on climate change and the future of health systems to the United Nations, European Union, World Health Organisation, Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development, and the International Society for Quality in Health Care. He convened the national Roundtable on the impact of climate change on human health in Sydney on 19 March.
