The Centre for Ancient Cultural Heritage and Environment (CACHE) was delighted to host a Virtual panel for ECRs/MCRs on How to write a convincing ROPE account for ARC grants. The panel was well attended by CACHE members and our broader Macquarie University community across the Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Science and Engineering.

Prof. Bronwen Neil FAHA

CACHE Executive member, Prof. Bronwen Neil FAHA, is Professor of Ancient History, Department of History and Archaeology, Macquarie University, and former ARC Executive Director for Humanities and Social Sciences (2020-2021). Prof. Neil is an expert on Byzantine Greek and medieval literature, early Christianity, and ancient letter collections in Greek and Latin. She was awarded an ARC Future Fellowship in 2014 on "Dreams, Prophecy and Violence from Early Christianity to the Rise of Islam (400-1000 CE)” and joined Macquarie University as Professor of Ancient History in 2017. She was the inaugural director of CACHE.

Prof. Craig Simmons FAA FTSE

Professor Craig Simmons FAA FTSE,ARC Executive Director for Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Earth Sciences. Prof. Simmons is Matthew Flinders Distinguished Professor of Hydrogeology and Inaugural Schultz Chair in the Environment at Flinders University. Prior to commencing at the ARC, Professor Simmons was Foundation Director of the National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training, founded as an ARC Centre of Excellence. He was also Pro Vice-Chancellor (Strategic Research Projects) at Flinders University. He is an Honorary Professor at The Australian National University (ANU).

Dr Karin Sowada is a specialist in the archaeology of Egypt and the Middle East, with a focus on foreign engagement, trade and societal change in the Bronze Age. She is Director of the Australian Centre for Egyptology at Macquarie University and CACHE Co-Deputy-Director. Dr Sowada also shared details and decisions about her ROPE account for her successful 2017–2021 Future Fellowship: ‘Pyramids, Power and the Dynamics of States in Crisis’.
