CACHE Member Success: Prof. Peter Keegan elected Fellow of the Royal Society of NSW

CACHE congratulates our member, Prof. Peter Keegan, on his recent election as a Fellow of the Royal Society of New South Wales (AUS) and admission as a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society (UK).

Professor Keegan is an active researcher with interests in: epigraphical culture throughout Roman Italy; sexuality, gender, and body history in antiquity; and the political, military, social and cultural histories of Rome during the republican and early imperial periods. Peter is also an awarded teacher and has supervised many excellent student research projects.

The Royal Society of New South Wales is a learned society founded in Sydney in 1821. It is the oldest learned society in the Southern Hemisphere and aims to advance knowledge through “studies and investigations in Science, Art, Literature and Philosophy”. The category of Fellow, which Prof. Keegan has been awarded, aims to recognise substantial contributions made by residents of NSW who are leaders in their fields within these disciplines.

The Royal Historical Society (RHS), founded in 1868 is a highly successful learned society and charity based in University College London. RHS is the UK’s foremost society working for historians and history with Fellowships awarded to those who have made an original and significant contribution to historical scholarship.
