Congratulations to Dr Emlyn Dodd, CACHE ECR Affiliate and 2020 Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow, for his selection as a Highly Commended finalist for the Early Career Researcher of the Year – HASS category in the 2021 Macquarie University Research Excellence Awards.

This achievement is a reflection of Emlyn’s significant contribution to academic scholarship in the field of humanities and social sciences. His research focuses on food and drink production in the ancient Graeco-Roman world and the important knowledge networks responsible for the distribution of agricultural technology across this region. Since completing his doctorate at Macquarie University in 2018, Emlyn has led and collaborated on fieldwork projects in Greece, Turkey, and Italy and has won multiple internationally competitive funding schemes and awards. He took up the role of Assistant Director for Archaeology at The British School at Rome in early 2021, and will be co-hosting the major international conference Vine-Growing and Winemaking in the Roman World in October this year – see the Eventbrite page for more details.

For more on Emlyn’s research, publications, and grant successes, see his Macquarie University and Academia profiles and follow him on Twitter.

The winners of this year’s Research Excellence Awards will be announced at the virtual Academic Staff Awards Ceremony on 30th November 2021. We wish Emlyn the best of luck!
