Already part of Mia Mia

Already part of Mia Mia

Toys of people outside a houseYou and your child are now a welcome part of Mia Mia's warm and supportive community and we want you to feel at home in the centre. We encourage you to speak regularly with teachers and other staff to discuss your child's care and progress.

Settling in

Settling in to a new situation can be upsetting for some children and families. To make this transition as positive as possible we:

  • Ask families to make a time to talk with the teacher to clarify expectations and answer questions.
  • Require families to spend time in Mia Mia with their child during the first week or two to help to settle their child and become familiar with the staff and program.
  • Will ensure team members are available to help you when we believe you and your child are ready to say goodbye for the day.

Once your child is settled, we invite you to phone Mia Mia to check how they are settling in to the program. We understand that you may need to call for reassurance at any time.

Ongoing support and involvement

Our early childhood teachers provide an ongoing record of children's learning and development and families are encouraged to access this information in accordance with our current policies.

We need you and your family to take part in our support groups, garden and working bees, information sessions and fundraising events. See our calendar of upcoming events.

The Mia Mia Information Booklet contains helpful information about what to expect from a long-day care experience, what your child's program will be like and how our policies and ethos guide our work. A copy of the information booklet is provided to families on enrolment. Contact our staff if you require further information.
