Request resources from beyond our Library collection

Eligible staff and students may request copies of books, articles, book chapters, theses and other resources if the Library does not hold a copy.

Who is eligible?

Macquarie University and Macquarie University Hospital staff and postgraduate students (including honours students in honours year) are eligible to request interlibrary loans.

Make an interlibrary loan request

  1. Log in to MultiSearch.
  2. Search to see if the Library already holds the required item.
  3. If it is not held by Macquarie, use the ‘Expand beyond library collections’ link, and search again to see if the item appears.
  4. When you have found what you are looking for, check to see if any ‘Get it for me’ options have appeared.
  5. Use the ‘Get it for me’ options to request your interlibrary loan.
  6. If there is no ‘Get it for me’ option, navigate to the toolbar at the top of your screen and click on 'Inter Library Loan'.
  7. You will receive an email when the requested item is available. Physical items can be collected from the Info Desk on level 2 of the Library. Chapters and articles will be sent as an email attachment or download link.

Our costings are found in the OCLC Policies Directory – search for ‘ATNMQ’, and ILRS directory – search for ‘NMQU’.

Payment may be made with IFLA vouchers, credit card and OCLC’s IFM.

Theses

Macquarie Theses are not for loan. Libraries can purchase a copy. Contact us on lib.ill@mq.edu.au for a quote (including postage cost) before placing a request.

Requests should be placed through Rapido, LADD or OCLC WorldShare. Alternatively, if this is not possible, an email request can be placed via lib.ill@mq.edu.au.

An electronic copy will be made available, with the author’s permission, or an unbound copy will be posted to you.

Note: this service takes four to six weeks excluding delivery time.

Under the provisions of the Copyright Act 1968, as amended, we are limited to sending only one chapter or 10 per cent of a book. Journals are less restricted, allowing us to send multiple articles from single journal issues. Items supplied that are not held by the Library must be for teaching and/or research purposes.
