Faculty of Science and Engineering Women in STEM Scholarship
Recognising excellence in Science, Information Technology and Engineering, this scholarship is to fund female-identifying scholars based on excellence and equity, to encourage and support female-identifying scholars to undertake a career in STEM.

About the scholarship
The scholarships will be targeted at students studying Science, Engineering and IT degrees. Preference will be given to students who can demonstrate hardship or disadvantage. Examples include (but are not limited to) financial disadvantage, non-English speaking background, geographic disadvantage and disability.
Duration
This scholarship is awarded for up to 4 years for Undergraduate or up to 2 years for Postgraduate students, subject to meeting ongoing eligibility critera.
Criteria
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Have admission to an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree at the Faculty of Science and Engineering in Session 1 2024.
- Be a female-identifying student.
- Intend to study Full-Time and internally (i.e. on campus).
- Demonstrated record of high academic achievement.
- Can demonstrate the ability to work hard to achieve their goals.
- Preference will be given to students who can demonstrate financial hardship or disadvantage.
How to apply
Applications available via Macquarie University Scholarship Application. Applicants will need to provide two references, one from an academic source (e.g. school principal) and one from another person who can comment on suitability for this scholarship. Short-listed applicants may be contacted to attend an informal interview with representatives of Macquarie University. The application will include a personal statement that should discuss the following four questions:
- Why have you chosen this degree?
- What do you hope to achieve once you complete this degree?
- How might this scholarship make a difference to your studies and career?
