Regional forum in Melbourne

The inaugural ‘United Nations Business and Human Rights Regional Forum: Australia and New Zealand’ will focus on strengthening responsible business practices in turbulent times.

The B&HR Access to Justice Lab is co-organising this forum with:

• the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights
• UN Global Compact Network Australia
• RMIT University's Business and Human Rights Centre
• UNSW Australian Human Rights Institute
• World Vision New Zealand.

The regional forum will bring together representatives from government, business, the investment community, academia, civil society, trade unions, Indigenous Peoples and other affected groups to discuss and help shape the future of business and human rights in Australia, New Zealand and beyond.

Topics include:

• The future of modern slavery reporting requirements and mandatory human rights due diligence
• Advancing respect for Indigenous Peoples' rights and cultural heritage
• Overcoming obstacles to achieving a just transition in response to the climate and nature crises
• Harnessing responsible AI and other technological developments
• Enabling tangible positive outcomes for affected people across complex global supply chains.
