Making a meaningful difference to children, educators, families and the community by generating evidence about high quality early childhood pedagogies and practices.

Early Childhood Education makes a significant contribution to the learning and wellbeing of children, families and communities. A strong early childhood education system enables workforce participation and reaps future financial returns due to its ability to establish in young children a strong, resilient foundation for life-long learning.

The Centre for Research in Early Childhood Education (CRECE) brings together a critical mass of early childhood education researchers from Macquarie University who will work together with the early childhood community to co-design and conduct innovative, impactful research. We focus on two key themes:

  1. Impactful, individualised early childhood pedagogies will generate new knowledge about how to enhance the learning of all children aged birth to five.
  2. Knowledgeable, supported early childhood educators and families will investigate workforce factors that increase educator capabilities, resilience and support family partnerships.
