DAAD Australia-Germany Joint Research Cooperation Scheme

DAAD Australia-Germany Joint Research Cooperation Scheme

StatusOPEN
Aim

DAAD Australia-Germany Joint Research Cooperation Scheme provides financial support for the travel and living expenses associated with collaborative research between Australia and Germany.

Researchers must be working on a genuinely collaborative research project with German partners, not furthering their individual research in Germany (or vice versa). As part of the DAAD’s Program for Project-related Personal Exchange (PPP), the scheme usually involves a two-way exchange of researchers to and from Germany.

A significant focus of the scheme is to develop the experience and capacity of early career researchers (ECRs). Projects that do not involve an ECR will not be considered for funding.

Please note that the Australian version of this scheme that researchers from MQ will be applying for is called the Australia-Germany Joint Research Cooperation Scheme, and the German version of the same scheme that the project partners in Germany will have to apply for is called the PPP Australia Programme.

Applications will be assessed and ranked by a Macquarie Assessment Panel prior to submission to Universities Australia.
Following the internal submission, applications will be assessed and ranked by an internal panel at Macquarie University. The scores generated from this internal assessment and the applications will be submitted by the Research Office to Universities Australia, who will then provide the applications to DAAD for the final application assessment.

Applicants will be notified of the outcomes of the selection process in November 2024.

Funding

Macquarie University will provide funding for a small number of projects of up to AUD$12,500 p.a over two years. This funding is to support living and travel expenses for Macquarie researchers to spend time at partner institutions in Germany.
