Learning and Teaching Workshop Booking

Teaching Induction Program (TIP) 2016 Session 2

The Teaching Induction Program (TIP) has been redesigned for Session 2 as a blended learning experience, developed and delivered in partnership by Faculty Learning and Teaching Teams and Learning Innovation Hub (LIH) staff.

TIP consists of the following required activities:

  • a central teaching induction session with online supplement (there is also a fully online version for those who cannot attend);
  • faculty-based induction (format and delivery mode depends on the faculty)
  • completion of additional online modules and/or face-to-face workshops, including the Evaluating Teaching Workshop (faculties may specify required modules/workshops) and
  • other faculty-based activities (specified by each faculty)

Faculty specifications are provided in the TIP iLearn unit. Participants who fulfil these requirements will be awarded a TIP Certificate of Completion.

TIP program learning outcomes are aligned with the UK Professional Standards Framework for Teaching and Supporting Learning in Higher Education, providing a basis for progressing to an application for accreditation as an Associate Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy. There are additional optional activities for participants who are interested in becoming an Associate Fellow of the HEA. These include participation in peer observation of teaching and submission of a reflective statement. Information on these extension activities is provided in the TIP iLearn unit.

On registering for TIP, you will be enrolled in the TIP iLearn unit. You will also need to register separately for one of the central Teaching Induction Sessions (see below) and the Evaluating Teaching Workshop. We will send you an email with these details once you have registered for TIP.

Central Teaching Induction Sessions will be held on Wednesday 27 July (10am-12noon), Wednesday 3 August (6-8pm) and Thursday 4 August (1-3pm).

The Evaluating Teaching Workshop will be held on Wednesday 28 September (12noon-1pm).

Who should attend: Macquarie staff, particularly sessional staff, who are new to teaching and more experienced sessional staff who would like to expand their teaching skills or fill “gaps” in their knowledge, particularly in the area of learning technologies and assessment.
