Macquarie Law School was very pleased to host Danny Gilbert, founding partner of Gilbert and Tobin, to deliver the 2022 Blackshield Lecture.

Named in honour of Emeritus Professor Tony Blackshield AO, and having been delivered in the past by such luminaries as our Emeritus Chancellor, The Hon Dr Michael Kirby AC CMG, Dr Gillian Triggs, and Justice Stephen Gageler AC, this event is an opportunity for our alumni, partners and friends of the Law School to engage with Australia’s leading legal minds and experts.

Calling on all present to support the referendum for an Indigenous Voice to parliament, Mr Gilbert used the occasion to outline the importance of The Voice as a “profound, long-overdue symbolic act” that will “bring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Australians to their rightful place in our shared understanding of Australian identity and opportunity.”
