New scholarships now available

, / November 18, 2015

Thanks to the support of donors and recent fundraising initiatives, we’re offering two new scholarships to students starting out on their career journeys.

Applications are now open. If you know of any eligible prospective students, encourage them to apply – we look forward to welcoming them to the Macquarie family.

The Macquarie University Alumni First in Family Scholarship supports students who are the first of their immediate family (parents, siblings or grandparents) to attend university. It is awarded to an incoming undergraduate student in any discipline and is valued at $5000 per year.

The Macquarie University Alumni Education Costs Scholarship was established to assist students who are able to demonstrate financial hardship. Applicants need to be in receipt of Youth Allowance or any other means-tested Commonwealth support. It is valued at $5086 per year (2015 value).

These new scholarships join our already generous scholarship offerings.

The Macquarie University Alumni Family Scholarship encourages the legacy of family members attending Macquarie across generations. It is awarded to an incoming student in any discipline and is valued at $5000 per year.

The Macquarie University Alumni Accommodation Scholarship assists students who are able to demonstrate financial hardship and who are relocating from a rural area to study at Macquarie University. Applicants need to be in receipt of Youth Allowance or any other means-tested Commonwealth support. It is valued at $10,174 per year (2015 value).

The Alumni Ani Apcarian Memorial Scholarship honours the memory of early childhood student Ani Apcarian, who sadly lost her life in a plane crash in 2009. Ani, who graduated posthumously in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts, was a very keen volunteer in the Armenian community, and this scholarship honours her commitment to volunteering and her passion for early childhood education.

This scholarship enables the holder to pursue a full-time program of study leading to a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) within the Institute for Early Childhood at Macquarie University and offers an incoming full-time undergraduate student majoring in early childhood education $2500 for their first year of study.

The Alumni Garrawi Indigenous Scholarship encourages Indigenous students to undertake postgraduate studies at Macquarie University. It is awarded to an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person based on academic merit and demonstrated commitment to Indigenous community advancement. It is valued at $2500 for one year only.

These scholarships go a long way to changing our students’ lives. If you’d like to be a part of someone’s success story, donate now.
