March 2016 Project Update

A new update presentation is available here.

New 2016 Staff Web Portal

Through user testing and stakeholder sessions it was identified that:

  • Interactive maps will be used frequently by staff to find their way around campus.
  • Mobile optimised portal is a must.
  • When logged in, content must be personalised to the individual. Personalised quick links were the most compelling of all features presented.
  • Ability to secure access to sensitive information is vital for a successful staff portal.
  • A search function that spans multiple systems will provide most value, and the search must return meaningful and useful results.
  • Staff will continue using their current tools e.g. applications.
  • The staff directory must integrate all profile information and provide control over information availability based on access levels (e.g. staff view all, students view most, public views some).
  • Include feedback options in the footer, ensuring this function is appropriately managed.
  • Clear directions on how to update personal preferences are needed.
  • Consolidation or integration with other Macquarie University systems is key to the portals’ success.
