All Macquarie University applicants are required to provide evidence of English language proficiency. The standard of English required for entry is described in reference to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Evidence of English proficiency, including minimum scores on other English tests and qualifications, are listed on Schedule 1 of the Graduate Research Admissions Policy.
You may also satisfy the English language requirements by:
- Passing an approved English language test at the required level.
- Having completed 5 years of study in selected English-speaking countries.
- Having completed an AQF Level 7 degree or higher in selected English-speaking countries within 2 years of application.
- Having completed a postgraduate degree from selected countries within 2 years of application, where the Diploma Supplement states that the language of instruction was English.
- Having a minimum of 3 years of work experience in a relevant industry area in selected English-speaking countries.

Fees
Domestic students who are offered entry to a Master of Research degree will have the cost of their tuition fees covered by the Australian Government’s Research Training Program (RTP) Fees Offset Scholarship. This scholarship is administered by individual universities on behalf of the Department of Education.

Students enrolled in the Master of Research are not currently required to pay the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF). This fee is subject to annual review and Master of Research students may be required to pay the SSAF in future. In the event it is charged in a future year, and you are enrolled in the program, you may be required to pay it.
