Excellence in Higher Degree Research - Social Sciences, Business & Humanities
This award will be presented for outstanding research undertaken by a higher degree research student in social sciences, business and humanities, including:
- anthropology
- communication and media studies
- business
- economics and management
- early childhood and education
- human geography
- history
- languages and linguistics
- philosophy
- political science
- psychology
- sociology
- law
Eligibility
All higher degree research students can enter this category. The research activity can be in any field and must have been developed at Macquarie University in the past three years. Research conducted before 24 May 2010 will not be considered.
Judging criteria
A panel of judges will choose a winner based on:
- Creative Breakthrough
Evidence that the innovative research is based on a novel idea or concept or a novel application of an existing idea or concept. - Implementation and Impact
The research must have a major impact and/or benefit on the community. This must be explained and supported with evidence. - Alignment with Macquarie University strategic goals
The applicant must demonstrate that the research is aligned with the strategic goals of the University.

Application process
- This category is competitive in nature and applicants are requested to submit short proposals to the judging panel using the online application form.
