Excellence in External Research Partnership
This category rewards outstanding research performance in partnerships between Macquarie University staff and external groups including schools, community groups, industry, government (local, state or Commonwealth), NGOs, and international organisations. (Partnerships with other higher education institutions are not eligible). The partnership must be based on research with that enhances the University's teaching and research programs and provides demonstrable returns to partner organisations.
Eligibility
This category is open to all members of staff (including adjunct and emeritus staff provided work has been conducted primarily at Macquarie University). The partnership must include a partner external to the university. Other higher education institutions are not eligible.
The research activity can be in any field and must have been developed at Macquarie University in the past three years. Research conducted before 27 May 2008 will not be considered.
Judging criteria
A panel of judges will choose a winner based on:
- Creative Breakthrough
Evidence that the innovative research is based on a novel idea or concept or a novel application of an existing idea or concept. - Implementation and Impact
The applicant must be able to identify where the innovative partnership has made a major impact and/or benefit on the community. This must be demonstrated through an explanation of the benefits supported by evidence. - Alignment with Macquarie University strategic goals
The applicant must demonstrate that the innovation is aligned with the strategic goals of the University.

Application process
- This category is competitive in nature and applicants are requested to submit short proposals to the judging panel using the online application form.
