With considerable regret, I write to inform you that Dr Paul Schreier has tendered his resignation as the Chief Operating Officer. Dr Schreier was approached for and has accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer of Holdingham Group, based in London, and will depart the University in March 2016.

Executive staff of Dr Schreier’s calibre are always in high demand and it is no surprise that his talents and expertise have been recognised by this prestigious international firm. He leaves us to join an advisory firm that focuses on complex commercial issues including acquisitions, partnerships, competitive positioning, market entry and interactions with government. His career and experience make him a superb candidate to lead that company and I am certain he will excel in his new appointment.

Dr Schreier will remain in his role until the conclusion of the current budget cycle to provide continuity and stability as we plan for the next fiscal year, transition to a new international pathway program, and work to grow our surplus for future investment in our teaching, learning and research. An international search for Dr Schreier’s successor is underway, with a full and active handover planned before his departure.

On a personal note, I am very grateful for Dr Schreier’s excellent work and his many contributions to the University. I have found his counsel wise and insightful, and his leadership of the University’s complex operations exemplary. It has been a privilege to work with him, and I wish him well in his next enterprise.

Sincerely,

Professor S Bruce Dowton
Vice-Chancellor
