Review of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students and Registrar) portfolio

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students and Registrar) has instigated a review of the portfolio, which includes the Office of the Deputy Registrar, Campus Wellbeing and Campus Life. This is an important initiative given that the portfolio has been in existence now for four years.

The purpose of this review is to better understand where the strengths and areas for improvement are and to gain insights that will help shape strategy and delivery over the next five plus years.

Written submissions are invited from all staff in relation to the:

  1. Alignment of mission and goals of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students and Registrar) (DVC S&R) Portfolio with that of the University.
  2. Effectiveness of DVCS&R leadership (both within the University and the broader profession) and management, organisational structure and governance, and quality enhancement processes.
  3. Efficiency and effectiveness of the DVCS&R portfolio (its physical, fiscal, and IT infrastructure; and staff capability).
  4. Fitness for purpose – effectiveness of services provided by the DVCS&R team to enable the University to meet its strategic goals.
  5. Development of metrics around outcome measures to demonstrate fitness for purpose, particularly in relation to benchmarking nationally and internationally.
  6. Current state of workforce planning, including succession planning and change of culture and mindset.

Please send submissions to Meagan Myles (meagan.myles@mq.edu.au), secretary for the review, by Friday 6 June. Submissions will be treated in confidence and only viewed by the secretary to the review and the review panel. No anonymous submissions will be accepted.

The review panel will be chaired by Professor Janina Montero, Vice-Chancellor Student Affairs, UCLA. Panel Members are Nat McGregor, Chief Operating Officer, Office of the Chief Operating Officer (Resources), Newcastle University and Professor Joan Cooper, Higher Education Consultant.
