Submissions sought to the University-wide review of marketing

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Corporate Engagement and Advancement) Professor David Wilkinson has initiated a University-wide review of marketing, which has been endorsed by the Executive Group.

The purpose of this review is to assess how effectively​ the current University-wide marketing function serves the needs of the University to achieve its objectives and aspirations as outlined in Our University: A Framing of Futures. 

The independent review panel, comprised of Emeritus Professor Richard Henry (former DVC Academic, UNSW) and Mr Tony Wilson (Director of Marketing & Communications, QUT), is seeking and considering University-wide feedback against the following terms of reference:

  • To determine the alignment between the University-wide marketing function (including central, faculties and controlled entities) and the strategic vision and goals of the University
  • To assess the efficiency and effectiveness of marketing services
  • To assess the quality of service provided, benchmarked against the norms in the sector
  • To assess whether the resources dedicated to University-wide marketing are appropriate and comparable to similar institutions
  • To assess whether the current overall structure of University-wide marketing is optimally delivering outcomes that meet the expectation and aspirations of the Executive Group and stakeholders.

The review will commence on 23 March 2015, with a final report due on 7 April 2015.

Written submissions are invited from all staff.

Submissions will be treated in confidence and will only be sighted by the Review Panel. No anonymous submissions will be accepted. The review panel may request further information on submissions, or the person making the submission may be asked to attend a panel interview.

The review panel will be interviewing a number of stakeholders from across the Macquarie University community. If you would like to be considered for an interview please note this on the web form. Interviews will be granted subject to the panel’s availability.
