Professor Michael Gillings from the Department of Biological Sciences did his regular spot on 774 ABC Melbourne, Sundays. Given the current international unrest, Adjunct Professor Clive Williams from PICT has been very active in media discussions around topics of national security, acts of terrorism, and the risks around events such as the Brisbane G20. He spoke on 774 ABC Melbourne Drive about plans by Melbourne Airport and Qantas to introduce streamlined security checks, provided comment in a Daily Telegraph article about Melbourne Cup security, and also the Brisbane Times and WA Today regarding the Black Bloc’s interference in Melbourne’s 2006 G20 Conference. Clive also spoke on Radio National PM about how the federal government is working to confirm reports of the death of Australian jihadist Mohammad Ali Baryalei, for which he was also referenced in numerous radio news bulletins nationwide. Finally, Clive appeared on ABC Four Corners to discuss the ‘Green on Blue’ killing of three Australian soldiers in Afghanistan.
