Designated smoking area closure – Globe Café

The designated Smoking Area at the Globe Café has been closed as a requirement under the Smoke Free Environment and Work Health & Safety Acts.

Due to ongoing concerns for the health of staff and students from entry of second hand tobacco smoke into surrounding buildings, the University has decided to close the zone immediately. A decision regarding an alternative location for this zone will be reviewed.

Alternative zones are located at Library Road (across from the old library building), across from the Sport and Aquatic Centre and at Y3A.

A new map indicating the smoking zones will be updated online and across campus shortly.

Staff and students are reminded that smoking on campus is only permitted in designated smoking zones. If you are asked to cease smoking in a non-designated area, you must put the cigarette out and go to a designated smoking area.

We thank you for your compliance with this policy.

The University is also keen to assist anyone who is wanting to Quit smoking –
