Macquarie University Inspired Teaching Scholarship
The purpose of the Macquarie University Inspired Teaching Scholarship is to support experienced teachers to extend their professional development through undertaking a Graduate Certificate of Education Studies.
A teacher can use this opportunity to explore an issue of strategic interest in their early childhood centre, school, or education workplace, build their professional capital, contribute to accreditation requirements, and/or facilitate career progression. The scholarships target teachers with three or more full time equivalent years of teaching experience, which means that, with the 8cp of RPL they qualify for, students only need to complete two units to gain a Graduate Certificate of Education Studies.
Applicants must meet the admission requirements for the Graduate Certificate of Education Studies and have demonstrated three or more full time equivalent years of teaching experience.
Applicants will be required to submit a proposal which describes how their workplace project when integrated with postgraduate study will lead to improved student outcomes in their workplace. Scholarships are awarded based on the merit of proposals.
In considering how a program of study might be integrated with their strategic interests, applicants will need to be familiar with the requirements of the Graduate Certificate of Education Studies as outlined in the 2019 Macquarie University Handbook.
Applicants will need to identify the Specialisation in the Graduate Certificate of Education Studies that is most appropriate for their proposal from the following:
- Advanced Practices in Teaching and Learning
- Leading Teaching and Learning
- Educational Leadership.
Applicants will also need to check the availability of Units that are integral to their plans from the 2019 list of Units with an EDCN code.
Applications can be submitted by individual teachers or by a groups of teachers, whether from a single school or a network of schools. Groups of teachers can work on different aspects of a larger project, thereby improving outcomes for a wider range of students.
50% fee waiver for two units of study in the Graduate Certificate of Education Studies
Applications for the scholarship are via the online form open now and close for Session 1 2019 on 8 February 2019.
