About the scholarship
Established in honour of Sir Theo Kelly, one of Australia's most influential retail leaders, this scholarship honours his legacy of innovation, leadership and industry impact. Over more than five decades with Woolworths, Sir Theo helped transform the business into one of Australia's leading retailers while championing innovation and growth. Inspired by that legacy, the scholarship aims to increase access to leadership education for the next generation of leaders who will shape the future of the broader retail ecosystem, from supply chain management and trade to e-commerce, technology and marketing.

This scholarship is awarded for up to 3 years, subject to ongoing eligibility criteria
Criteria
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or the holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa
- Be eligible for admission to one of the below eligible Macquarie Business School postgraduate courses.
- Be commencing or continuing full-time or part-time in an eligible postgraduate degree in 2027.
- Demonstrate leadership potential, a commitment to making a positive contribution to their community, workplace, or industry, and a desire to create meaningful social impact.
- Demonstrate an interest, experience, or career aspiration in retail or the broader retail ecosystem, which may include areas such as: (1) Supply chain management; (2) Trade and e-commerce; (3) Retail technology and data analytics; (4) Marketing; and/or (5) Retail sales.
- Applications are particularly encouraged from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, as well as individuals from regional or remote communities and those who have experienced educational, social or economic disadvantage.

- Motivation in the field of study
- Evaluation of answers to online application questions:
- (1) Describe a situation where you demonstrated leadership and made a positive contribution to your community, workplace, industry, or another group. What impact did you achieve and what did you learn?
- (2) Describe your interest, experience, or career aspirations in the retail industry or broader retail ecosystem. How has this interest developed and where do you hope it will lead?
- (3) How will your studies at Macquarie University help you achieve your goals, and what positive impact do you hope to make through your future career?
