About the scholarship
The ISSP Indigenous Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship, funded by the Commonwealth Government, assists Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who demonstrate financial hardship with the costs of relocation and higher education.
Duration
This scholarship is awarded for up to 4 years, provided you continue to meet eligibility criteria.
Criteria
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be an Australian citizen
- Identify as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
- Be a commencing or continuing full-time student in an undergraduate degree at Macquarie University
- Be able to demonstrate financial hardship
- Be from a regional or rural area

How to apply
Applications are available via the UAC Equity Scholarship Application Portal. Macquarie University will be participating in the following Equity Scholarship (ES) Offer Rounds for course commencement in Session 2 2026 and Session 1 2027:
- November Round 2: Apply by Friday, 13 November 2026, 11:59pm
- December Round 2: Apply by Tuesday, 10 December 2026, 11:59pm
- January Round 2: Apply by Thursday 08 January 2027, 11:59pm
- Scholarship places may be exhausted prior to the January 2027 offer round. To avoid disappointment, we recommend submitting your application before this round.
- Only one application is required for the admission year. Your application will remain active and will be considered in each offer round within the same admission period.
