Description

Project

A key aim of the project will be to address novel questions in social and cognitive neuroscience using a combination of behavioural measures and state-of-the-art human neuroscience techniques whilst fully embracing open science best practice and the reform agenda from the credibility revolution. Using these methods, the successful candidate will be encouraged to develop a theme of research that examines how neural circuits in the human brain make sense of the dynamic and complex social information that we experience in everyday life. Example research topics include: person perception, loneliness, real-life neuroscience and open science. Applicants with research interests in other areas of social and cognitive neuroscience are also strongly encouraged to apply.

SoBA Lab

The project is part of ongoing research in the Social Brain in Action Laboratory (SoBA Lab), which explores the cognitive and brain systems that underpin our ability to understand the actions and mental states of other people. The SoBA Lab is an international research group housed in the Schools of Psychology and Cognitive Science at Macquarie University (Sydney, Australia), which offers access to outstanding facilities for Social / Cognitive Neuroscience. Furthermore, as well as being a thriving global city, Sydney has many tremendous beaches, which provides a wonderful natural backdrop to professional activities. For more information on SoBA lab research, please take a look at the lab website (https://www.soba-lab.com/). Informal enquiries via email are also welcome - please use the contact details below.
