2018 Research Training Program scholarship (RTP) and Macquarie Research Excellence Scholarship program (MQRES)
The main scholarship round for domestic candidates is the Research Training Program scholarship (RTP). The Research Training Program is the Australian Commonwealth Government scholarship scheme for supporting higher degree research candidates of exceptional promise. Applicants applying for an RTP will be automatically considered for the University funded Macquarie Research Excellence Scholarship program (MQRES) in the same round. No allocation reference numbers apply. Applicants should refer to main round scholarships as 'RTP/MQRES 2018' on their application.
Successful RTP candidates will receive:
Tuition fee offset for 3 years maximum
Stipend (tax exempt, indexed annually stipend, 2018 rate $27,082 pa)
Successful MQRES candidates will receive
Tuition fee offset for 3 years maximum – funded by the Australian Commonwealth Government
Stipend (tax exempt, indexed annually stipend, 2018 rate $27,082 pa) – funded by Macquarie University
Candidates commencing their PhD or MPhil program in 2018
Applicants must meet Macquarie University academic admission requirements, including the minimum English language requirements
Candidates are expected to undertake full time, internal, on-site candidature at Macquarie University
Candidates will be rated against the criteria outlined on the MQ HDR scholarship rating sheet, and in accordance with the Macquarie University Research Training Program Scholarship Guidelines

Application process for NEW applicants who have not previously applied to MQ:
MUST submit an application for scholarship and candidature via the e-Application portal. You will need to include transcripts, degrees/testamurs, English language proficiency evidence, research proposal and other relevant documentation. Please refer to the How to Apply pages for further details on requirements and documentation.
MUST indicate RTP/MQRES 2018 in the scholarship question

Application process for OTHER applicants:
Current MQ HDR candidates - Current candidates are eligible to apply, using the Scholarship Only application form, however, any consumed prior enrolment will be counted as advanced standing and will reduce the maximum scholarship duration offered.
Applicants with a successful candidature offer less than 12 months old -
MUST submit a scholarship only application form with supporting documents to firstname.lastname@example.org with approval to defer their candidature commencement to Session 1, 2018
Include any additional documentation/research output (in one PDF attachment)
MUST indicate RTP/MQRES under the scholarship details question
MUST include their student ID number and full name in the email subject line
Closed: 31 October 2017 for scholarships commencing in semester 1, 2018.
Applicants shall be advised of the outcome of the applications from 11 December 2017 onwards.
