Full project title: Secure edge computing framework for real-time biosensor data processing in clinical environments

About the scholarship

Sponsored by an industry leader in cloud and edge computing solutions, this scholarship provides a full stipend for three years, enabling you to focus on developing robust, secure and efficient edge computing architectures for clinical biosensor applications.

The research project addresses critical engineering challenges in clinical biosensor deployments, including:

  • real-time data processing with sub-second latency requirements
  • secure data transmission and storage under HIPAA/healthcare compliance frameworks
  • resource-constrained edge computing optimisation
  • scalable system architectures for heterogeneous biosensor networks.

Traditional cloud-centric approaches introduce unacceptable latency for time-critical clinical decisions and raise significant privacy concerns when transmitting sensitive patient data. This project will engineer edge computing frameworks that process biosensor data locally at the network edge, enabling real-time clinical decision support while maintaining stringent security and privacy guarantees.

As a scholarship recipient, you will gain hands-on experience with:

  • industry-leading edge computing platforms
  • containerisation and orchestration technologies
  • secure communication protocols
  • distributed system architectures.

Availability

This scholarship is available to eligible candidates to undertake a direct-entry three-year PhD program.
