An NHMRC partnership project to implement and evaluate Australia’s National Living Guidelines for Adult Cochlear Implantation. Co-design solutions to improve access, referral pathways, service delivery, uptake and outcomes nationwide.

About the scholarship
The PhD project provides hands-on experience in:
- implementation science
- stakeholder engagement
- co-design
- mixed-methods research
- health services evaluation.
Working with researchers, clinicians, consumers and policymakers, the student will contribute to research with direct relevance to clinical practice, health policy and service improvement, helping to advance equitable access to cochlear implantation and hearing healthcare nationally.
The student, supported by the project coordinator and multidisciplinary investigator team, will contribute to the day-to-day activities of the project, including:
- recruiting and engaging key stakeholder groups
- conducting interviews, focus groups and stakeholder workshops
- analysing qualitative and quantitative data
- supporting the development and refinement of implementation strategies and tools
- managing and analysing implementation and evaluation datasets
- monitoring guideline uptake, acceptability and feasibility
- evaluating impacts on clinical practice and service delivery
- disseminating findings through reports, presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
The PhD student will be based within the public health and policy pillar at Macquarie University Hearing and undertake research at the intersection of:
- public health
- implementation science
- hearing health
- health services research
- allied health.
Availability
This scholarship is available to eligible candidates to undertake a direct entry three-year PhD program.
Components
The scholarship comprises:
- a tuition fee offset
- a living allowance stipend.
The value of each stipend scholarship is $40,900 per annum (full time, indexed) for three years.
