Loneliness and social isolation are proven risk factors for poor mental and physical health outcomes. Social isolation is a health risk equivalent to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
About the scholarship
This PhD scholarship provides an opportunity to work alongside Primary and Community Care Services (PCCS) and partner organisations to investigate how community-based mental health and wellbeing initiatives can be effectively implemented, embedded, and sustained in real-world settings.
Using an implementation science approach, the successful candidate will contribute to research that supports the translation of evidence into practice and improves outcomes for communities.
The research will focus on person-centred, community-led models of care, with particular interest in social prescribing, community connection, prevention and early intervention, and approaches that strengthen community ownership and activation.
Working closely with PCCS and implementation partners, the candidate will help generate practical insights that inform service design, system integration, and the delivery of more connected and responsive mental health support.
Availability
This scholarship is available to eligible candidates to undertake a direct entry 3-year PhD program.
Components
The scholarship comprises:
- a tuition fee offset/scholarship
- a living allowance stipend.
The value of this stipend scholarship is $40,900 per annum (full time, indexed) for three years.
