This PhD scholarship offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the development of climate-resilient, low-carbon healthcare systems. It is a joint initiative between the Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) and the Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI) at Macquarie University.

Successful candidates will join a multidisciplinary research team dedicated to implementing innovative strategies that reduce healthcare’s carbon footprint and enhance system resilience.

About the scholarship

The scholarship includes full tuition coverage and the possibility of a paid, part-time research support position alongside your PhD studies. You will receive:

  • advance research on climate-resilient and low-carbon healthcare systems

  • evaluating the implementation of planetary health frameworks using implementation science principles
  • investigating climate change impacts on vulnerable populations
  • assessing interventions to reduce healthcare’s carbon footprint, including staff travel
  • researching strategies to minimise low-value care
  • exploring policies and practices that align healthcare with Net Zero targets.

Availability

This scholarship is available to eligible candidates to undertake a direct entry three-year PhD program.

Components

The scholarship comprises:

  • a tuition fee offset/scholarship
  • a living allowance stipend.

The value of each stipend scholarship is $42,000 per annum (full time) for three years.
