Elizabeth Macquarie: Violoncello [1814]

Description: Early Nineteenth Century musical instrument; with a two-piece back of medium curl, original neck, fingerboard, pegs, bass bar and (probably) soundpost, with varnish of dark red brown colour.

Length of back: 760mm.

Maker: Thomas Kennedy (1784-1870).

Purchased at auction by the Historic Houses Trust of New South Wales in 1992. Collection of the Museum of Sydney on the site of first Government House, a property of the Historic Houses Trust of New South Wales.
