Chas. – Lochbuy – Sisters Mrs. Morley & Mrs. Scott – Col: Dunlop 77th. – Capt. Jno Campbell 51st. Regt. – and to my Bankers Messrs. Gosling & Sharp, enclosing to the latter the foregoing Letters. —

Septr. 18.
Thursday! — I this day ceased wearing Mourning for my ever–to–be–lamented angelic wife: – for whom I have constantly worn a Black Crape [sic] on my Left Arm now for 4 Years and two months!!! – the least respect I was bound to pay to her beloved memory! —

I sat this day for the first time as President of the Sans Souci Club, and wore the Uniform of it. —

Septr. 23.
Tuesday! — I this day removed both my offices, as Major of Brigade & Actg. Depy. Paymr. Genl. King's Troops, together with all my Household Furniture & heavy Baggage to Rooms in the Bunder; which The Governor has been kindly pleased to direct the Land Paymr. to give up to me for an Office free of any Rent. — I also at the same time removed myself with my Light Baggage to Apartments in the Government House in Town, at the particular desire of the Governor, and slept there this night for the first time. — I consequently gave up my House in Military Square entirely from this date, which is a saving to me of at least 150 Rupees a month, of Rent alone, besides being able hereby to discharge several now useless Servants. —
