Augt. 5.
Tuesday! — The Fly Cruiser Sailed this day for Bussorah with an Overland Mail. — I wrote by this opportunity to Genl. Marsh, enclosing him Duplicate of my Memorial of date 1st. July last to be laid before H.R.H. The Duke of York. — I wrote also by the same conveyance to Lt. Jno. Campbell ADC to Lt. Genl. Stuart, acquainting him that he had very lately succeeded to a Capt. Lieutcy. in the 51st. Regt. —

Augt. 20.
Wednesday! — This day the Ship Mysore commanded by Capt. Seton sailed for China, by which opportunity I wrote to my worthy and amiable friend Mr. Jas. Drummond of Canton. — I sent my Seringapatam Prize Jewels – vizt. 17 Ruby Rings – by Capt. Seton to be sold at China if he can get 2000 Rupees for them. —

I also commissioned Capt. Seton to bring me several China Articles of Presents for my friend Mrs. Davidson in Bengal. —

Augt. 30.
Saturday! — I wrote of this date to my friend Lt. Col: Montresor now commanding the 77th. Regt., requesting of him to be so kind as to recommend my Relation Jno. Mc.Quarie for an Ensigncy in that Corps. —
