Collaborating across disciplines and around the world

Our department engages with universities both inside and outside of Australia, and welcomes visiting academics and associates.

Our partnerships

We have strong links with other departments, research centres and faculties across the university, including the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the Department of Cognitive Science and the Department of Biological Science.

Strong ties with other universities include the Universities of Aberdeen, Cambridge, Glasgow, Oxford, and Amsterdam, the Institut Jean Nicod, Monash University, California Institute of Technology and many more.

Visiting our department

Visitors take part in the departments' academic or research activities and have a formal attachment to the Faculty of Arts, which processes the applications.

Appointments are usually honorary and visiting staff members are not employees of the university. Visiting staff are issued with a Staff Identity Card for use of the library resources and other campus facilities. Visiting positions may be arranged for a range of staff from senior visiting professors to junior visiting scholars.

All visiting staff receive short term appointments of up to a year. For more information, see the university policy on visiting academic appointments.
