MPID Meet Up – The Industry Impact of 5G

Date:
26 March 2018

Time:
4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Location
Macquarie University Incubator, 8 Hadenfeld Avenue

With next-generation 5G mobile networks set to play a key role in accelerating digitisation the Macquarie Park Innovation District (MPID) will explore what this means for technology and industry. Meet the ‘MacPark’ innovation community and join the discussion with Optus, AMP Capital, Konica Minolta, Macquarie University and more as we examine how 5G has the potential to fundamentally shift mobile internet from a communications gateway towards a tool for life-changing innovation.

The introduction of 5G will open up a ground-breaking level of scalability and capability to enable, for example, industrial automation, robotics, aerial drones, augmented reality, mobile healthcare and smart cities.

What is 5G? How will 5G be brought to market and what are the first likely applications? How can 5G re-imagine what mobile internet means including AR/VR, IoT, Media and Machine Learning? How can technology leaders adopt and take advantage of 5G? How will this play out across various industries?

Hosted in the newly opened Macquarie University Incubator, speakers will include the following industry and academic experts:

Optus: Stuart MacIntyre, Director, Optus Business Technology/CTO, Optus

AMP Capital: Jessica Senior, National Marketing Campaigns & Digital Manager, AMP Capital Shopping Centres, AMP Capital

Konica Minolta: Neal Ross, Director IT & Services, Konica Minolta Business Solutions Australia

Macquarie University: Professor Iain Collings, Deputy Dean School of Engineering, and Chair, Future Wireless Networks, Macquarie University
