Forensic accountants are highly skilled in analysing and preparing financial information for a court of law. Forensic Accounting is a field that requires a combination of accounting, auditing, law and investigative skills and knowledge.

As part of the requirements to become a recognised specialist in Forensic Accounting, the Department of Accounting and Corporate Governance, Macquarie Business School in partnership with the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) is offering an eight-week online course in the form of a set of modules covering the requisite knowledge with the application of theory to practice.

The online course has been built specifically to meet the needs of CA ANZ members (and non-members) who want to become specialists in forensic accounting, recognised for their advanced skills and knowledge in niche areas of their profession. It is also available to CA ANZ members and non-members who wish to undertake the modules for CPD purposes. It will consist of the following four modules:

  • Module 1 – Forensic accounting and the legal system
  • Module 2 – Investigation engagements
  • Module 3 – Loss and damage and other dispute engagements
  • Module 4 – Forensic accountants and the court

Enrolment period: Tuesday 15 June – Wednesday 14 July 2021 

Online study commencement: Monday 19 July – Friday 10 September 2021 

Assessment options:

  • Online assessment: Monday 13 September 2021; or
  • Portfolio interview assessment: Monday 13 September – Wednesday 15 September 2021 (by arrangement)
