Macquarie University Campus Hub,

13 – 17 March is Careers Week at Macquarie! Check out the highlights of the week’s events below.

Macquarie Graduates Panel – Hear from successful Macquarie graduates on careers and work!
Monday 13 March 1-2pm, Lecture Theatre 1, Australian Hearing Hub

Come and listen to what a panel of successful MQ graduates have to say about finishing uni, and finding their first professional roles. Hear about about their career path since graduating from Macquarie, how they found their current position, challenges they have faced finding suitable employment, relevance of their studies to what they are doing now, and future career plans.

Start-Up Symposium – work for a Start-Up? Here’s how to do it!
Tuesday 14 March 12-2pm, E3B 114

This symposium provides a unique opportunity for individuals to discuss their start-up experiences with you. As an emerging area of employment for graduates, we are seeking to showcase entrepreneurial thinking, and why it is important for students today. It will comprise a series of staff and students who have had start-up experience and will advise and inform attending students. This will be followed by a pop up networking event.

Movie night: The Intern
Wednesday 15 March 6-8pm, Ubar

As befits a modern generation-gap comedy, The Intern is set at a start-up: a successful shopping website Jules founded called About the Fit that’s colonised a converted factory in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Ben is a retired widower with plenty of time on his hands and a seemingly bottomless reserve of can-do spirit who applies to a senior internship program. Pizza will be served, thanks to the Student Representative Committee.

Graduate Careers Fair
Thursday 16 March 12-3pm, The Atrium

The Graduate Careers Fair is tailored towards graduates and final year students that are interested to hear about graduate programs, entry-level roles and other opportunities from local and international organisations. Come along and practice your networking skills and meet potential employers!

Aussie Rules: Job search for international students
Friday 17 March 1-2pm, E3B 114

This workshop features a panel of international students who have recently finished at Macquarie and have all sourced work here in Sydney. Hear what they did to embark successfully on their chosen career and gain hints and ideas which you can apply to your own career pathway. It’s never too early to start thinking about your career and future professional life.
